Install Firtestarter iptables GUI:
To fix an error with the syslog at startup:
sudo gedit /etc/rsyslog.d/99-fixlog.conf
*.=info;*.=notice;*.=warn;\
auth,authpriv.none;\
cron,daemon.none;\
mail,news.none -/var/log/messages
sudo service rsyslog restart
