Samsung smartphone to Windows 10 Miracast

From WickyWiki

Prepare

On Windows 10 you need to enable "Wireless Display" feature:

  1. Apps & Features
  2. Check if it's installed
  3. Optional features
  4. Add
  5. Select and install "Wireless Display"

Note:

  • Wi-Fi needs to be enabled
  • It might not be possible to use your Wi-Fi for Internet and Miracast simultaneously, depending on your Wi-Fi abilities

Start

On Windows 10, Launch the Connect App. Search for these items:

  1. Connect to a Wireless Display
  2. Projecting to this PC
  3. Launch the Connect App to project to this PC
    • You might want to disable full screen at this point (see troubleshooting). Go with your mouse cursor to the right-top. A taskbar becomes visible.

Windows 10 should now be ready to receive a connection

Now on your Android device:

  1. Enable Samsung Smart View
  2. Select your Windows 10 device
  3. Mirror screen

Troubleshooting

All mouse and key input go to the Android device

In my case, while connected, all mouse and key input goes to the Android device. There was no way to get any input to Windows 10 without stopping the session. To keep local controls it helped for me to disable full screen at this point. Go with your mouse cursor to the right-top. A taskbar becomes visible. Click the arrows to disable the full screen.

To enable input

Connecting to the PC I get the message "To enable input go to Action Centre > Connect > select the Allow input checkbox". This checkbox isn't there however.
